Navy Deploys Carrier Strike Group Near Taiwan

A nuclear attack submarine is part of the group.

The U.S. Navy has again positioned a carrier strike group led by the USS Ronald Reagan in the waters of the Western Pacific near the east coast of Taiwan.  It is the first time they have done so since April.

The carrier and its air wing are accompanied by cruisers USS Robert Smalls and USS Antietam, the guided missile destroyer USS Rafael Peralta, and, in an unusual move, the submarine USS North Carolina.

The various craft recently participated in joint South Pacific exercises that included Australia’s navy and others.

A U.S. Navy spokesperson said, “Our undersea force is the most lethal and capable in the world, operating across the globe and ready to conduct prompt and persistent combat operations.”

“We leverage our asymmetric advantages to deter war and, if deterrence fails, to dominate the adversary,” she said.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Admiral John Aquilino as he commands the Indo-Pacific Command.
  • For Secretary Austin to seek God’s direction as he heads the Defense Department.
  • For the president and Joint Chiefs of Staff as they strategize moves regarding Taiwan.
